Abstract
The acute death of postweaning piglets occurred persistently from October 1997 until June 2005 on a pig farm. The appearance of the affected piglets showed remarkable palpebral edema in the first peak, and diarrhea was confirmed as a prodromal symptom in the latter peak. The piglets were diagnosed as having enterotoxaemia with Escherichia coli. A total of approximately 12,000 piglets died in this case.
