Description

The genus Colocasiomiya DE MEIJERE (Diptera, Drosophilidae) is divided into three species groups, cristata, baechlii and arenga. Two new species of the arenga species group are described from Sulawesi. The abdominal coloration of some synhospitalic species of this genus is found to be adaptive to the microenvironments of the host flowers. The stamenicolous species dwelling in open microenvironment has abdominal tergites paler than in the pistilicolous partners inhabiting darker microenvironment.
