Description
In consideration of host-parasite relationship, the distribution of cave bats was examined in Hokkaido and Sado. A number of Myotis macrodactylus, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum and R. cornutus were collected during the years from 1977 to 1978 in wave-cut caves, an abondoned mine of copper and a raceway, and the parasitic cestodes were identified. (1 ) R. ferrumequinum, collected in Katanakake-iwa-dokutsu and Yoshitsune-dokutsu at the west seaside of Hokkaido, were infected with Hymenolepis rashomonensis, paratic in R. ferrumequinum from the various places in Japan. Furthermore, some R. ferrumequinum in the latter cave was infected with Rodentolepis hattorii. On the other hand, R. ferrumequinum, collected in Anama-iwa-dokutsu toward the Tsugaru Channel, was infected with Vampirolepis ogaensis, parasitic in R. ferrumequinum from Aomori, Akita and Yamagata Prefectures. (2) R. ferrumequinum, collected in an abondoned mine of copper and Ryugan-no-ike-dokutsu, were infected with H. rashomonensis. Some R. ferrumequinum in the latter cave were infected with V. ogaensis, and Insectivorolepis yoshidai, parasitic in R. ferrumequinum from Gifu Prefecture. (3) The conclusion to be reached from these results is that some R. ferrumequinum living in the west and south of Hokkaido and in Sado migrate over a wide region and some have a local migration.
