説明

Juvenile red sea bream, Pagrus major, having an initial mean body weight of 40g, were given on a fish meal diet to satiation under four rearing protocols, two mean water salinities of 31.9 and 23.8 (32s and 24s) by two initial rearing densities of 2 and 4 kg/m3 (2d and 4d), at a mean water temperature of 21.2°C for 20 days. Another two groups of the fish were fasted under 32s-2d and 24s-2d. The rearing protocols offered no significant influence on digestible energy, metabolizable energy, and growth energy (GE), which was respectively near 88%, 80%, and 20% of energy intake (IE; kcal/kg BW/day). Standard metabolizable energy (SME), including energy expenditure for osmoregulation, was above 38% of IE for 32s-2d and 32s-4d, higher than that under 13% of IE for 24s-2d and 24s-4d. Heat increment plus voluntary activity, inversely, for 24s-2d and 24s-4d was 48% of IE, higher than about 19% of IE for 32s-2d and 32s-4d. These indicate that the rearing densities do not influence on growth and energy budgets and that less SME due to the low water salinity does not directly conduce GE deposition of red sea bream.
