抄録

Cheliped loss of the Japanese crayfish, Cambaroides japonicus in a stream and a lake in Hokkaido was studied. The frequency of cheliped loss showed no difference for sex individuality, however, it was higher in adults than in the young. Futhermore, the frequency of cheliped loss was higher in stream, a larger habitat compared to that in lake. Intraspecific fights and mating behaviors might be the cause of these losses.
