Factory-made, condensed raw paste of baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, i.e. yeast cream was introduced as a culture feed in the effort to reduce the production cost of the rotifer, Brachionus rotundiformis in high density culture system. Although a sole use of the yeast cream could not attain stable rotifer growth, the maximum combination ratio of yeast cream to Chlorella paste successful in high density culture of rotifer was obtained in the case of fifty-fifty in the laboratory scale culture. Semi-continuous culture in the practical scale through 30 days was conducted with feeding 20 l/day of Chlorella paste during the lst-10th day and the 50% replacement of it with yeast cream during the 11th-30th day. During the test period, daily density and PV (packed volume) of rotifer were almost stable at 8×103 ind./ml and 8 ml/l, respectively. The yield co-efficiency of rotifer production was not different between for the first 10 days (39.4×108ind. /kl/day) and for the next 20 days (40.1×108 ind. /kl/day). The cost of feed for the production of 108 individuals of rotifer was 381 yen for the first 10 days and 313 yen for the next 20 days, decreasing by 20% with feeding yeast cream. Moreover, concentration of total ammonia in the culture medium and lorica length of rotifers were not changed with composition of the feed.
