チリ共和国チロエ島東部海域において2種類のウニ，Arbacia dufresneiとPseudechinus magellanicus の生殖と浮遊幼生について調査した。1987年3月から1988年2月にかけて，Hueihue（A. dufresnei）と Teupa（P. magellanicus）において成ウニをそれぞれ採集し生殖腺の変化を調べた。両種の生殖腺指数変化から産卵期は8月から10月と推定された。また Hueihue（1987年3月から1988年2月，1988年10月から1989年3月）と Teupa（1987年3月から1988年1月）においてプランクトンをそれぞれ採集して浮遊幼生の出現状況を調べた。A. dufresnei の浮遊幼生は5月から11月にかけて，P. magellanicus のそれは8月から10月を中心に出現し，変態期幼生の出現時期は比較的明瞭であった。またレロンカヴィ入江の Caicura において20,000個体/m2 の P. magellanicus の稚ウニ（平均殻径2.6 mm）の生息が観察された。
