Abstract

The problem how to construct graphically the conjugate gear tooth profiles derived from a given arbitrary line of action has been solved by several following methods:<BR>1) using the conjugate rack from, 2) using the traveling velocity of the contact point along the line of action, 3) using the perpendiculars to the gear tooth profile, 4) using the perpendiculars to the tooth profile and their radii of curvatures, 5) using the tangents to the tooth profile and 6) using two sorts of rolling curves, etc.<BR>New procedure discussed here is based upon the integral equation of intermeshing teeth on the polar coordinate and is to construct the gear tooth profiles out of the polar angles evaluated by the graphical integration with respect to the radius vector.
