Description

In our hospital, almost 100% of the general practitioners (GPs) considered that it is significant to handle some abdominal emergencies, and this is expected to build a win-win relationship between GPs and surgeons or gastroenterologists. However, the biggest problem is poor cooperation due to lack of mutual understanding and communication between GPs and specialists. Surgeons or gastroenterologists should adequately support the diagnosis of or decision making regarding treatment in each case. The educational feedback based on the outcome of each case should be provided to the GPs from the specialists. This is an absolute necessity for GPs. It is important to build a team medical care system by interactive cooperation and efficient role sharing. GPs and specialists can compensate for their weaknesses by cooperation each other:GPs can then become the key for overcoming the crisis of abdominal emergencies.
