Description

Bronchial lipoma is an extremely rare disease among benign tumors of the lung. Recently, we experienced the following case of bronchial lipoma, which was the 11th case found in our country. A 59 year-old male patient was rehospitalized with a main complaint of hemoptysis during followup period as an outpatient after operation for duodenal leiomyosarcoma. Chest X-ray films showed bronchiectasis pseudotumorales in the left lower lung field, while a round tumor which obstructed the left B^<10>b, c was found by bronchoscopy, but no malignant findings were obtained by biopsy. Because liver metastasis of duodenal leiomyosarcoma was already evident, endoscopic YAG laser surgery was performed to vaporize the tumor evident in the bronchial lumen. Despite the fact that hemoptysis and the tumor-like shadow on chest X-ray films disappeared at around 2 months after operation, the patient died 5months after surgery. Pathological examination of the residual tumor at autopsy yielded a final diagnosis of bronchial lipoma.
