抄録

The ultimate purpose of this study is to find out the general principles which govern the design activity of human beings. Those principles must hold good for any type of design and be useful when applied to practical problems in any type of design. The present paper describes the fundamentals of the study and forms its introductory parts. The method of the study is axiomatic. Three axioms are adopted of human concepts. The first axiom is concerned with human perception which hypothesizes that the human being recognizes the entity by abstract conception. The second insists the existence of correspondence between entities and conceptions. The third describes the rules about topologies and set theoretical operation in the conceptual set. Theorems are deduced from these axioms. The principle of the deduction is that the theorem deduced may be verified by actual observation of designer's activity. Theorems are concerned with the specification and the solution of design; and with the designing process. They hold the possibility of verification and are shown to offer fundamentals for the practical design problems.
