Abstract

We evaluate an efficacy of PDT using Photofrin® for 20 patients with early gastric cancer unsuitable for ESD. According to the original 14 days clinical pathway, we performed PDT not only 48 hours but also 72 hours after Photofrin injection (Two days method). Complete response was obtained in 17 of 20 patients (85.0%) and in 22 of 27 cancerous lesions (81.5%) in the first course of treatment. There were no serious complications. Two days method of Photofrin® PDT is effective and safe for early gastric cancer unsuitable for surgery or ESD.
