We investigated the susceptibilities to organophosphorus insecticides (chlorpyrifos, diazinon and isoxathion) of hunting billbug (Sphenophorus venatus vestitus) adults in the Kanto, Tokai and Kinki districts. The Hyogo A, B, C populations showed reduced susceptibilities to chlorpyrifos and diazinon, and showed susceptible to isoxathion being used as alternative insecticide. In the control effect test with pot, the mortality of Hyogo A population to chlorpyrifos and diazinon were significantly (p<0.05; x2-test) lower than those of the susceptible population. The mortality to isoxathion was still high. The fertility of the Hyogo A population was 61% compared to that of the susceptible population. It was possible that they were caused by fitness disadvantages following reduced susceptibilities to chlorpyrifos and diazinon.
