This paper examines the characteristics and functions of historical studies on the buildings of Ise-Jingu in the middle of early modern period.
Historical studies have been written down since around Kanbun era(1661-1673). In early times, their subjects are limited to the buildings whose reconstruction projects were planned, but soon studies which cover all buildings of Ise-Jingu were complied.
Around that time, there were dispute between Naiku (Inner Shrine of Ise-Jingu) and Geku (Outer Shrine of Ise-Jingu) about the revival projects of Geku, and historical studies which were solely compiled by the priests of Geku until the early eighteenth century include their claim.
