Abstract
The authors performed a series of laboratory experiments and field surveys regarding a heating system with convectors installed beneath seats, which has been newly developed for providing a good quality of heating environment for halls. The globe temperature measured at the point of virtual center of seated person-Seat Globe Temperature (SGT)-was found to give a good correlation with the thermal sensation of occupants, and was described as a function of heat flux from the convectors. From these results, it is considered that the SGT should be applied when this heating system is designed.
