抄録

This paper aims to clarify the relationship between simplicity and attractiveness in urban scenery based on Pragnanz law of Gestalt psychology. Authors analyzed the written comments and sketches of urban sceneries drawn by 18 subjects, in which they showed the ranges of simplicity and attractiveness as a direct method of extracting an area image.<br>The results showed that simplicity and attractiveness exist simultaneously in many cases. This study helped in understanding the importance of adjusting the contrast between simplicity and attractiveness in the making of attractive urban scenery.
