A 65-year-old female patient was referred to our institute for enlarged liver tumor in segment 2. Computed tomography demonstrated a 53-mm low-density tumor with faint heterogeneous enhancement. The tumor appeared as a high-intensity lesion on T1- and T2-weighted images of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A fat suppressed T1-weighted image (opposed phase) showed the tumor as a low-intensity lesion. The differential diagnoses were well-differentiated liposarcoma and hepatic angiomyolipoma. Hepatic lateral segmentectomy was performed, and histological examination of a surgically obtained specimen revealed hepatic angiomyolipoma. The tumor was enlarged, but its main component was a mature adipose tissue and the proliferative potential of the tumor was low. The course of the tumor size increase would provide valuable information.<br>
