Eleven cases of trichilemmal cyst and 322 cases of epidermoid cyst were observed at Osaka Teishin Hospital for 10 years from 1980 to 1989. Incidence of trichilemmal cyst was about 1/30 of that of epidermoid cyst and was higher in males (8 cases) than in females (3 cases). Average age of the patients was 45.8 years (27-65). Trichilemmal cyst occurred on the scalp in seven (63.6%) out of 11 cases, while epidermoid cyst occurred mostly on the trunk (48.3%) and face (32.5%).
