Abstract

A 48-year-old male was referred to our hospital due to symptoms of a general fatigue and anorexia. He was diagnosed to have liver dysfunction with elevated total bilirubin with 3.46 mg/dl, aspartate transaminase (AST) 384 IU/L and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GTP) 1067 IU/ml. Ultrasonography revealed multiple hyperechoic nodules in the liver. These nodules showed low density on computed tomography and high-intensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, which lost intensity with fat suppression technique. Histology obtained from the hyperechoic nodules in the liver showed macrovesicular steatosis. These nodules disappeared on CT three weeks after a conservative therapy, and liver biopsy at that time showed liver fibrosis.
