We carried out closed patch testing on 58 patients with skin diseases for skin safety evaluation of hypoirritant shampoo (HM shampoo) and rinse (HM rinse)<BR>The following materials were tested: HM shampoo (1.0% aq), a hypoirritant shampoo on the market (1.0% aq), 3 weak acidity shampoos on the market (1.0% aq), HM rinse (1.0% aq), a hypoirritant rinse on the market (1.0% aq) and refining water. Shampoos (1.0 % aq) and rinses (1.0% aq) which were used by patients were also patch tested<BR>The skin irritant index of HM shampoo was 7.9, a hypoirritant shampoo 27.8, weak acidity shampoo A 49.1, weak acidity shampoo B 44.0, weak acidity shampoo C 61.2, patient's shampoo 41.8, HM rinse 6.9, a hypoirritant rinse 21.6 and refining water 6.9<BR>The results showed HM shampoo and HM rinse were judged as excellent products in skin irritancy.
