抄録

Two cases of liver injury induced by Methyldopa were reported. First case, 29 year-old female, developed fever 2 weeks and jaundice 6 weeks after administration of Methyldopa, with marked elevation of serum LAP, in addition to moderate elevation of serum transaminases and bilirubin. Coombs test, anti nuclear and anti DNA antibodies were positive. Second case, 51 year-old female, developed anorexia, nausea and vomiting 3 weeks after administration of Methyldopa with moderate elevation of serum transaminases. Histologicaly, so called "resembling viral hepatitis" of Popper was observed in both cases. Lymphocyte Stimulation Test (LST) was positive in the first case, and negative in the second case. A challenge test with smallest dosage of Methyldopa was positivily confirmed in the second case.<BR>At the same time, a long-term follow up study was carried out in 100 cases of Methyldopa administration, revealing positive Coombs test in 4 cases and liver function disorders in 3 cases.
