Description

A 72-year-old man who has suffered from advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with lung and chest wall metastasis was treated with sorafenib by a dose of 800 mg/day. Because of hand-foot-skin reaction, dosage was reduced to 400 mg/day on day 11. After 7 months, sorafenib was transiently discontinued because of a diarrhea and a fatigue for one month. After disappearance of symptoms, sorafenib was restarted by a dose of 400 mg/day. One month after that he admitted due to the lower abdominal pain. Abdominal CT scan revealed free gas in the pelvis. An emergency operation was performed based on the diagnosis of perforation and diverticulitis of the sigmoid colon. He is currently well. Here we report a case of perforation of the colon during the sorafenib therapy for advanced HCC.<br>
