Description
Thirty five cases of solar lentigo were treated with a Q-switched ruby laser. There was a remarkable improvement of pigmentation (71%) in these cases. Fifty five percent of cases showed excellent results. Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation was frequently observed in a few cases who had the dark pigmented skin (Japanese skin type III). In the patients who had the Japanese skin type III, daily prednisolone administration (20mg/day for one week) immediately after laser irradiation blocked the occurence of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and improved the efficacy of this lasertherapy. Therefore, this Q-switched ruby laser therapy may be the one of the best treatment of solar lentigo.
