Description

Café au lait macules are congenital, brownish macules. Treaments of this disease have been dermabrasion, cryosurgery and excision but difficult to remove pigmentation permanently, because of a high rate of recurrence. We report the effectiveness of dermabrasion and topical use of 5% hydroquinone monobennzyl ether cream to café au lait macules. We treated 55 cases of caf au lait macules with either Q-switched ruby laser or dye laser, combined with topical use of 5% hydroquinone monobennzyl ether cream. The result was judged at 6 to 30 months after the last treatment and obtained satisfactory results.
