Description

Galactosylceramide containing cream (CBE cream) was applied to the dry skin of 21 cases of atopic dermatitis, 28 cases of xerotic dermatitis, 2 cases of psoriasis vulgaris and one case of ichthyosis vulgaris, recessive X-linked ichthyosis and cutaneous amyloidosis. Dry skin, scaling and itching were improved in the all cases of atopic dermatitis, xerotic dermatitis, psoriasis vulgaris and cutaneous amyloidosis, but dry skin of ichthyosis hardly improved. The effect of CBE cream on the atopic skin was considered to be due to the function of galactosylceramide which enhanced normal keratinization.
