Evaluation of the Effects of Tretinoin Tocoferil Ointment (Olcenon Ointment) in the Treatment of Decubitus and Skin Ulcers.

In order to investigate the usefulness of tretinoin tocoferil ointment, a multicenter collaborative open clinical study was conducted subjecting 32 patients suffering from decubitus, leg ulcer, diabetic ulcer and other intractable ulcers. The age of the patients ranged 21-96 years and mean age was 63.0 years. The application of this ointment was once or twise daily. Results obtained were following; marked improvement in 17 (53%), moderate improvement in 5 (16%), slight improvement in 5 (16%). Especially, the drug was excellently effective on granulation and epithelization. A clinical adverse reactions were seen in 4 of 32 (irritation, rash around ulcer and so on). Thus, final utility ratio was 72% (23/32).<BR>The results of our study support the efficacy and safety of tretinoin tocoferil ointment in the management of decubitus and skin ulcers.
