Description

We report the clinical, histopathological, immunohistochemical and endocrinological study of chronic pyoderma. In one case, he had painful eruptions with pus on both axillae. In the other case, he had painful subcutaneous nodules and abscess with pus on the buttocks. We histopathologically found the poral occlusions, sebaceous glands, apocrine glands and eccrine glands in the specimen of axillar lesion. On the otherhand, we histopathologically found the sinus tracts and scarring in the specimen of buttocks. These findings indicated that the dominant feature of chronic pyoderma may be follicular occlusion.
We could not immunohistochemically find the clear androgen receptor in any places. The serum LH, FSH, testosterone, DHEA-S, SHBG and 11-OHCS were within normal limit, but oestradiole, androstenedione were increased and 17-0HP slightly increased. These data was similar to the serum hormone level of male acne patient.
Our results may prove that chronic pyoderma resembles acne though clinical feature is different.
