Abstract

A case of verrucous carcinoma is reported. The patient was a 67-year-old male admitted with a chief complaint of an asymptomatic eruption on the lower lip and oral mucosa. The nodule was first noticed 6 months earlier and was cauliflower-like and 80×30×20mm insize. The histopathological examination revealed that the epidermis was markedly hyperkeratotic and hypertrophic. The epidermis was composed of the pale-staining large cell, and showed a moderate loss of polarity.Partly, horn pearls and individual cell keratinization were present. From those findings, we diagnosed the tumor as a verrucous carcinoma which developed into a true squamous cell carcinoma.
