Typical 3 cases of Sweet's syndrome were reported, and previous 89 cases seen in foreignand Japanese literatures were studied. The cardinal features of this dermatosis includepainful raised red plaques most commonly on the face and extremities, associated with fever, leucocytosis and an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Histologically, an intense infiltrateof neutrophils and nuclear fragments are seen in the mid-dermis.<BR>Our experienced cases fall into the same category. No aetiological factor has yet beenclearly incriminated although common findings are preceding respiratory infection and promptresponse to systemic steroid therapy. This latter feature would suggest a hypersensitivity mechanism.
