Description

A case of 75 year old man with giant tumor arising in the retroperitoneal space was reported.<BR>The giant conglomerated tumor was 15.4 kg in weight and 33×43×27 cm in size. The histologic findings revealed a retroperitoneal lipoma with myxomatous degeneration and marked necrosis.<BR>The primary retroperitoneal lipomas were seen in the rate of 2.5%-4.0% in the Japanese and europian literatures. The tumor occurred in the year from 40 to 70 years with the peak in the later 50 years. By sex, it occurred in female more than male at the rate of 5: 2.<BR>Primary retroperitoneal lipoma is reviewed in reference to the so far published Japanese and europian literatures.
