抄録

We have experienced a case of giant phyllodes tumor associated with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). A 37-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of a left giant breast tumor which had been let alone about one year. On admission the tumor was as big as children's head and had an ulcerating cauliflower shape and a foul odor. CT scan showed deep vein thrombosis that started from the common iliac vein to the inferior vena cava as high as the renal vein. For the prevention against pulmonary embolism, a temporary vena cava filter was inserted before a muscle-preserving mastectomy. Pathological examination demonstrated benign phyllodes tumor. After the operation the anticoagulation therapy using warfarin was initiated. During the hospital stay she showed no signs of pulmonary embolism. Four months later, a follow-up CT scan exhibited almost complete remission of the DVT. She has had no recurrence sign one year after the operation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a case of phyllodes tumor associated with DVT.
