Description
A 73-year-old man undergone a gastric endoscopy for his complaint of abdominal pain was found to have a IIc lesion 7mm in diameter at the angular notch. A biopsy revealed Group 4. An endoscopic demucosation was performed for the purpose of making diagnosis and treating. On the excised specimen, solid component with a part of tubular component was present. The solid component was positive for synaptophisine and NCAM, and hence endocrine cell carcinoma of the stomach was diagnosed. Because a possibility of the presence of malignancy in the surgical margin could not be ruled out, a gastrectomy was performed that confirmed no cancer remnant and lymph node involvement.
