Abstract

A 31-year-old woman in the 31 week of pregnancy was brought into an emergency hospital because of the sudden onset of chest and back pains. Computed tomography with contrast revealed acute type A aortic dissection. She was transferred to our hospital for surgical treatment. On admission, she was hemodynamically stable. Emergency aortic repair following Caesarean section was planned. In order to avoid intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, hysterectomy was also scheduled. During the operation, after a delivery of a newborn by Caesarean section, hysterectomy was done by a gynecologist. Graft replacement of the ascending aorta under cardiopulmonary bypass was then performed by a cardiovascular surgeon. Postoperative course was uneventful, and both mother and her baby were discharged from the hospital at 24th postoperative day.
