Abstract

A case of ileal endometriosis presenting with intestinal obstruction is reported. A 42-year-old woman developed abdominal pain and was hospitalized as an emergency because of intestinal obstruction. Ectopic endometriosis was suspected on MRI. After decompression of the intestinal tract with a gastric tube, enterography revealed a stenotic shadow in the terminal ileum. Laparotomy disclosed an inflammatory adhesion at the terminal ileum ; this was considered to cause the obstruction. A partial resection of the small intestine was performed. On histopathology, endometriosis of the ileum was diagnosed.
