Description

Peritoneal Surface Oncology International (PSOGI) issued international recommendations for the management of CPM on October 17-19, 2014, in Amsterdam. The recommendations are follows: (1) CRS combined with HIPEC is the treatment indicated for selected patients with moderate to small-volume CPM; (2) Treatment should be avoided in patients with a PCI score higher than the threshold level and in patients who are unlikely to undergo a complete resection, or who are unlikely to achieve full recovery because of old age or comorbidities; (3) CRS and HIPEC should not be offered at institutions where there is insufficient knowledge or insufficient skill; and (4) Developing centers should be supported by experienced teams until the learning curve is completed. Action regarding acceptance of this important comprehensive treatment in Japan is overdue.
