Description

Naikan therapy was established by Ishin Yoshimoto in 1941. There are intensive Naikan for the hospitalized patients and dispersive Naikan for outpatients in Naikan therapy. Intensive Naikan consists of the basic structure of three items and a structure for inducing concentration. Therapeutic techniques include fatherly guidance and motherly support, the attitude of the interviewers in which they do not mention the patient's symptoms and pathology, and a field of treatment where individuality is mixed with the collective consciouness of the therapy room. Only the basic structure is used in dispersive Naikan, while there is no specific treatment structure for concentration. In the therapeutic process, a sense of appreciation and support, a sense of self-reproach, others people's viewpoints and breaking out from the self develop. Therefore, characteristic growth and cooperation are recognized after Naikan therapy. Indications include neuroses, psychosomatic diseases, drug dependence and prolonged depression.
