Description
Many previous studies have reported that tension-type headache, one of the major primary headaches, is influenced by psychosocial factors including stressful life events and daily hassles. With regard to tension-type headache, no pharmacological therapies have been successful to prevent aggravation of headache intensity. Therefore, non-pharmacological therapies such as relaxation, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and biofeedback have become important and their efficacy has been reported. In the present review, we would like to introduce the importance of psychosocial factors in tension-type headache and non-pharmacological psychosomatic therapies. In addition, we would like to introduce an ecological momentary assessment technique to investigate the relationship between psychosocial factors and headache intensity in natural settings.
