Abstract
As cancer is a life threatening disease, patients feel extreme distress and sometime manifest psychiatric conditions such as major depression. The needs for psychological care and the psycho-oncologist's participation are increasing. The psycho-oncologist is a doctor who makes a specialty of psychiatry or psychosomatic medicine, and also oncology. He can facilitate communication among medical staff, and gives total care to them including bio-psychosocial-spiritual aspects. This aims at practicing the spirit of psycho-somatic medicine.
