Abstract

If a patient is suffering from cancer, he will be affected in his daily life. It is indicated that an understanding and intervention in a psychosocial problem plays an important role in the patient's improvement in the quality of life. In the treatment of physical, psychological, and social pains, consideration of the patient's psychosocial background is required. According to the questionnaire survey conducted at the Toho University Omori Hospital, the number of requests to the palliative care team is increasing, but the degree of understanding concerning the team's activities is low. In order to solve this problem, sharing of the knowledge of palliative care, mutual understandings among interprofessionals and public relations of a palliative care team are required.
