Abstract

Students perform various behavior problems at school. Recently it has been pointed out that cognitive behavioral therapy was effective for modification of problems. Many elements exist in schools, but one of them is concerned with teachers. In the case of a certain junior high student who committed violence, it was considered his violence maintained as his behavior was socially reinforced. The teacher in charge overestimated the rough acts of the student and gave a punishment stimulus frequently to control his behavior. As a result, his violence and its frequency increased. To improve this problem we showed the teacher the frequency of actual rough actions of the student. As the teachers' evaluation of the student was revised, his responses to the student changed. As a result, the teacher's approach to the student and his problems was improved. For the intervention to improve school problems, basic data collection and functional analysis are indispensable. We have to support it so that student and teacher maintain a prospect and a motivation for change.
