To develop fine stockings to reduce shoe sores, we initially clarified the relationship between the compression as well as stress relaxation characteristics of commercially available products to prevent shoe sores and feelings on use. As a result, among the commercially available products to prevent shoe sores, the raising type produced better feelings on use than the gel type. In addition, the greater the compression energy or strain, the better the feelings on use were. Smaller stress relaxation indicates greater viscosity. Subsequently, using trial stockings, the above results were confirmed. Stockings with modified pile kitting using wooly yarn(Sample Ps)as one of the 3 types of trial stocking with a modified pile stitch had characteristics similar to those of the above raising type, and produced the best feelings on use. In addition, stockings with a modified plating stitch only in the part that is the most susceptible to shoe sores(Sample K)were produced. The modified plating stitch is characterized by marked compression energy and strain. In a walking simulation experiment, pressure impulsiveness decreased by about 44% in the modified plating stitch part. Finally, a field survey of Sample K was performed to evaluate its “effects on reducing shoe sores”. About 90% of the subjects answered that they felt the effects of Sample K on reducing shoe sores.
