A 51-year-old man diagnosed in November 2006 with prostatic signet ring cell carcinoma underwent radiation and hormone therapy. Ileus symptoms in June 2007 and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy of apparent tumor-associated ileocecal bridging folds detected signet ring cell carcinoma. Surgical findings showed incurable wide-spread interperitoneal dissemination treated with ileocecal resection. Pathological immunostaining findings for the intestinal cecum and prostate gland tumor showed cytokeratin 20 (CK20)(+), cytokeratin 7 (CK7)(-), and prostate-specific antigen (PSA)(-), indicating prostatic metastasis from primary cecal signet ring cell carcinoma. Postoperative chemotherapy with FOLFOX+bevacizumab and FOLFIRI afforded 24-month symptom-free survival, followed by death from the primary illness 27 months (2.25 years) later. This is the second case of metastasis to the prostate from colon cancer reported in Japan, and reported here recommending bibliographic consideration.
