Abstract
We report on six cases of foot disorders which were treated with a shoe insert made of silicon.<br>The features of this silicon shoe insert were as follows.<br>1) It was easy to fit this to the patients foot and reduce foot pressure.<br>2) It was almost transparent, allowing the underlying skin condition to be easily checked.<br>3) Many kinds of shoes could be used, as it was easily inserted into different shoes.<br>4) Compared with usual shoe inserts, the silicon insert was heavy, and was difficult to modify later.<br>We obtained good results in 4 out of 6 cases using the silicon shoe insert. Improvement was seen in local findings, foot pressure and ambulation activities.
