We report on two patients with intramuscular lipoma and one patient with an intermuscular lipoma in the thigh.<br>Diagnosis and treatment of intramuscular and intermuscular lipomas are discussed.<br>1) Intramuscular lipomas appeared homogeneously on MRI, but intermuscular lipomas did not.<br>2) On pathologic examination, intramuscular lipomas were composed of adipose tissue and muscle fiber bundles, while the intermuscular lipoma was composed of only matured adipose tissue.<br>3) To avoid recurrence, wide resection was performed in the cases of intramuscular lipoma and marginal excision was performed for intermuscular lipoma.<br>Therefore intramuscular and intermuscular lipomas should not be treated as a whole but individually.
