Abstract
Flexible synthetic casting tape (Scotchrap) has some interesting characteristics that other plastic casting tapes do not have. Scothrap has various flexibility from rigid to flexible by changing expansion of trimming and thickness of casting. It has elasticity, it can be restored to the original state, and it can be cut by scissors.
We had made shoe inserts by using Scotchrap for some foot disorders (metatarsalgia, flat foot and painful heel syndrome) and we gained good results. It can support arches of feet, it can be fitted well and patients had good feeling.
Trimming of shoe insert is easy and we could make shoe insert immediately. Scotchrap is a new material which is worthy of notice for conservative treatment of foot disorders.
