Abstract

We attempted spinal orthosis for vertebral fracture by a flexible plastic cast. In this study, we made several types of spinal orthoses for vertebral fracture and investigated the restriction of activities of daily living (ADL). We made spinal orthoses, namely Knight-Taylor type, Jewett type, corset type, quick made orthosis, crossband type, and plaster of Paris casting for one healthy adult male. We compared the ADL score and the degree of trunk fixation with these orthoses and cast. Quick made spinal orthosis showed good ADL score and trunk fixation, and was considered useful orthosis for spinal fracture.
