Description

The female, male and pupa of Simulium (Simulium) banahauense sp. nov. are described on the basis of the specimens collected from Quezon Province, Luzon Island, the Philippines. This new species belongs to the melanopus species-group and is easily distinguished from all the known species by the bare aedeagal membrane of the male genitalia, as well as the dark fore coxae.
