Description
This study was performed to investigate the effects of IABP for ventricular septal rupture (VSR) due to acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Diastolic augmentation and systolic unloading were confirmed by initiation of IABP. The effect of IABP was only observed in dogs with AMI+VSR whose QP/QS revealed less than 4.5. IABP was employed in 4 patients with VSR and good results were obtained with combined management of IABP and emergency operation.
