In this study, a heat transportation system that transports and diffuses heat from devices implanted in a living body was proposed and made on an experimental basis, and its fundamental characteristics and ability to control temperature were inves-tigated. The heat transportation system consisted of Peltier-effect thermoelectric elements and heat conductive pipes showing efficient heat conduction. Experimental results demonstrated that the system could transport and diffuse heat generated by more than 20 W and that the temperature of the heat source could be controlled by adjusting the power supplied to the Peltier-effect thermoelectric elements. To further control the temperature of the heat source, the heat transportation system was combined with a PID power-supply controller for the Peltier-effect thermoelectric elements, and its performance was investigated. As a result, it was found that the temperature of the heat source consuming a power of 20W could be cooled from 42°C and maintained at 37°C. The time necessary to reduce the temperature of a heat source of 5W from 42°C to 37°C was for 26 seconds, and 37 seconds for 10W, 57 seconds for 15W and 104 seconds for 20W. It was concluded that this heat transportation system shows good performance to transporting and diffusing heat from a device implanted in a living body.
