The clinical and radiographic findings of osteogenesis imperfecta were analyzed. The cases of osteogenesis imperfecta were 2 males and 4 females aged from 6 to 22 years old.
Clinical findings showed blue sclera and disability to walk caused by multiple fractures of femur, and teeth had grayish blue color with particularly marked change in anterior teeth.
Radiographic findings of skull and jaws showed thin diploe, temporal bulge, bathrocephalus, wormian bone, hypoplasia of maxilla, obtuse mandibular angle and cross bite. There were deformities of thoracic vertebrae, ribs and clavicle and deformities of pelvis, hip joint and femur.
Intra-oral radiograms of teeth showed obliteration of pulp chamber and root canal. On the other hand a case aged 6 years old had large pulp chamber in which small radiopaque masses were scattered and large radicular pulp chamber with thin dentin wall.
The coincidence between bony deformities and teeth defects was observed in 2 cases. But in the rest 4 cases, 2 cases of them showed almost normal teeth although they showed severe bony deformities and other 2 cases showed mild bony deformities in spite of their marked changes of pulp chamber and root canal.
As mentioned above there was no close relationship between bony deformities and teeth defects in this study.
